Did I mention my writing is better than my math?

You know that glorious word count yesterday? Yeah, well. Litte boo-boo. Didn't remember to delete the redundant parts on day 1 or 2. So... ready for my smashing grand total of new words added to my novel?? (You won't need a big drum to roll here) 449 words.

Now, in order to keep myself from crawling under a rock and never coming back out- let me explain- because it helps me feel justified in my effort, and less like a word count loser.

1. Editing is a very different process than writing. It means reading & re-reading & slicing & dicing & moving things around- and in the end, the additions tend to be minimal.

2. I have edited 4 chapters in 3 days. That is no small thing.

3. If we look at the word count for words edited-- (the word counts for chapters 1-4) it numbers an impressive 9,702.

So. From now on- I'll be tallying the last two items (because taking the old word count (pre-edits) and subtracting what's there now-- too painful. I can't be at day 3 of NaNo with only 449 words.

The bar counter thingamabob over there will now reflect words edited as in #3 above-- so it'll seem impressive, but just remember that the actual new word count is significantly less.

And-- if someone has a better way to track this, please let me know. This is not my strong suit.

Taking my crimson cheeks to bed.

That picture is the best! It's worth 1,000 words making your total, once again, very impressive.
