Admittedly, I'm no Gustav Klimt or Georgia O'Keefe, but I can color a pretty picture. Better yet, I know how to edit it to make it look even better than when I scanned it in. The result? That really cool banner up top. I kept looking for a picture that had both a typewriter and a bee or a beehive in it and could not find such a thing. Therefore, as all artists must- when it doesn't exist, we create.
I think it turned out pretty well. I hope you like it, because you're going to be staring at it for a while. I chose this particular Shabby Blog background (thank you awesome Shabby Blog designers) because it makes me think of wearing a heart on my sleeve.
This feels like me. I have my typewriter to represent my art, my call. (No, I don’t have a real typewriter. This is merely symbolic.) My beehive and bees are there for two reasons. First, my first name is Deborah. It’s taken me a while but I have finally come to embrace the name and the heritage it brings with it (both familial and historical- face it, Deborah was an awesome judge). Bees are also great symbols for writers. Bees are hard workers, constantly seeking out nectar, which turns into sweet nourishment. They are also rumored to be creative muses. Truthfully, I don’t buy into the muse thing, but it’s a neat thought. There is also a stream, a river of sorts, running through the background. My middle name, the one I go by, Lynn- means river. It is the river running through me, running through my work, running to my reader, and all flowing from God (hopefully).
So, there you have it, me in a glance. And if you can’t buy into all that symbolism, maybe you can just agree that I made a "purty" picture and that at least counts for something.
Till next time, dear ones. Enjoy the new look!
