(click on the whoop- it'll take you right to it)
3rd Place EC on FaithWriters! Have to admit there was a whoop and holler that happened here. I was about to be seriously bummed if it didn't go anywhere with all those little gold boxes dangling behind it like cans on a "just married" bumper.
That said, reality is firmly in place as my first self-imposed big girl panties deadline looms. By tomorrow evening (well, nearly Saturday morning) I will be clicking "submit" for a contest I'm all wobbly-kneed about entering. I mean it's Writer's Digest for pity's sake. The chicken in me already has her head buried-- okay, I know those are ostriches but just play along-- because she just KNOWS they'll pass my entry around having a good giggle. But, the logical big girl says, Lynn, who cares if it stinks and pales in comparison to all the other entries the point is you're doing this to be brave- to say, I value my writing enough to put it out there--- I'm not burying my talent in the ground anymore. If God has called me to write, I'm not called just to write, I'm called to hit the submit button, too.
I love my mixed metaphors, what can I say?
Hopefully, the 4th version of my short story is currently under some careful scrutiny so that by the time I send it off it will be as good as I can make it.
Time to go run a load of wash & change some diapers, will have to save the fun stuff like re-writing and edits for nap time.
Many thanks to everyone that hung a shiny, boxy, golden bauble at the bottom of my challenge entry. It took a lot of red ink in other entries to get my writing where it is now. Writer friends don't let other writer friends write without red ink. Hmm.. maybe my new FW mantra. Ha!
Till later.
