Burning the 4am Oil

It's 3:30 am and I'm just settling back under the covers hoping for a little shut-eye before my alarm goes off. I can't sleep. Plot lines are actively arguing with themselves in my head and I can't get them to shut up. I barely manage to drift off and bam! 4am, more crying babies-- why it's so awful tonight, I don't know. So. I surrender to the muse. I settle the babies, grab my slippers and robe and a cup of warmed up joe and head to the den.

Now, nearly 2 hours later, I have a revised beginning to my outline which will reverberate through the whole plot, but I don't have time to sort through that now, it's enough of a start I can leave it.

I have enough time to pick my pseudo-city setting before needing to grab another cuppa and a shower. Too soon, it'll be auto-mom pre-school run time around here.

I've decided I must actually be writing on some level because I've never HAD to get out of my cozy bed before to adjust an outline. Stay awake enough to capture a story idea or clever phrasing before drifting back to sleep-yes, but so awake it means sacrificing 2hrs of sleep. Sigh. Now in addition to my human babies, my wordy baby is waking me up.

Till later.
