It's here! My first non-fiction copy of an article I wrote.

Today was a blah day to beat blah days. The rain has come and gone all day, and the grey skies have been consistent. My two girls are home sick with a cold (their first of the new school year). And my energy apparently stayed snuggled in my bed and didn't wake up until after 2pm.

But this afternoon, when I went to the mailbox, I found a surprise that has turned this blah day into a great one.

Inside the mailbox was a manila envelope with my pen name on the front. Hmm...curious, I thought. I had a hunch what it was because I recognized the return address, but I thought it was too soon. But sure enough, it held a check and two copies of the Purpose magazine my article was printed in.

Oh happy day.

You can read my first non-fiction article in the October 2011 edition of Purpose, and stay tuned... there are more articles to come.

Congrats, Lynn! That'll do it every time; receiving that check with a few contributor copies will definitely chase the blahs away! Great job! Woo-Hoo!!

Yay, Lynn. I remember getting a magazine in the mail with my very first published piece (unpaid). It wasn't even a very good one but there it was for all the world to see. What a high! Way to go, girl. Keep it going!

It was great to see my husband's reaction to the article. (He's kind of in it.) When he grinned after the first paragraph I knew it had hit its mark.

I have to say, this process hasn't been anything like the horror stories I've heard. From the start, the editor has been enthusiastic and encouraging. What's that? You want to pay me, and you want more of this? Let me think about that...OKAY! :)

I know it's unusual and a blessing and I'm counting it as the awesome gift it is.
