This Saturday, the day between Good Friday and Easter Sunday, I am taking a technology fast (no phones, no internet, no cable (I'll likely use my kitchen)- you get the idea. I plan to use the day partly in prayer and reflection over what that shadowed day was like when it was uncertain that Jesus would rise. I'll use it to remind myself of where I'd be, or if I'd be, if that sacrifice, that dark pause, hadn't happened.
I'll also spend it with my husband and children, and hopefully we'll talk as a family about what Easter means. That is a hope of mine.
I pray that if you can't take a whole day off, that you'll find an hour at least to reflect on Easter's meaning. That this year's Easter won't pass with only pastel colors, hard-boiled eggs, and jubilant hymns. That it'll be a more profound connection.
If you're unfamiliar with the idea behind Silent Saturday, I found a very well-written post on it that touches on the value of that dark time and the doubting. It's worth a read, Silent Saturday- A Day for Death and Doubt.
Peace be within you all.
