I have to admit, I'm feeling a little baaaa-shful.
:Insert dramatic and woeful bleeting here, no really:
If it weren’t for the unexpected surprises in March, I’d be really depressed. The month wasn’t without progress, but it was so underproductive that it makes me want to hide and delete all my posts about goals.
But part of this is about being accountable, so here I am.
1. Edit Back of My Hand as much as possible. I will claim my small victory. I am finally a smidgen ahead in my editing, about 1700 words more. That’s most of a chapter. I submitted 3 chapters this month to my critique group, though one was a very short chapter. But still, progress is progress so yay! Unfortunately, for all the non-blogging, non-goofing around, non-net time wasting, etcetera… that’s as far as I got. I feel like instead of 2 steps forward, 1 step back- it’s more like half a step forward, 10 back. I know eventually I’ll make it to the end of this but it very much feels like someone has my heels and keeps dragging me back into the darkness of the tunnel every time I get a glimpse of the light. But, it’s not enough to make me stop. So, on to April’s goal list it goes.
2. 2 Blog Posts A Week. Well, there are roughly 4.5 weeks in March and I made 10 posts in March. That’s close to 2 a week. The reality is, I decided early in March that I wasn’t going to let blog posts get in the way of my first goal, so it got back-burnered, and I decided my Friday posts would be it for the requisites and if I got other things posted, great. This shall remain my stance for April- and likely until this phase of editing/readying of BMH is over. I feel I must get that done.
3. A FaithWriter’s Challenge Entry if other goals accomplished. Mercy or grace or whatever you want to call it intervened. I didn’t accomplish my goals the way I wanted and in some kind of cosmic, divine, writerly blessing- there was no challenge for the month. Phew.
Now, unexpected things. I learned that the submission I made for the winter quarter of the quarterly WOW contest, made it through the first round of judging, so yay! And…I decided to enter a submission to Beyond The Diaper Bag and it’s been accepted and will be in that book which will likely be out in May, so double yay!
Moving on to April’s goals—the idea is to rain edits like crazy so that May will be bountiful in a gorgeous array of finished chapters so that I can partake in other writing I enjoy.
April’s Goals:
1. Keep on editing, as much as possible, Back of My Hand.
2. 1-2 Blog Posts a week.
3. 1 FaithWriter’s Challenge entry, if #1 is met with satisfaction.
4. 1 Fun Writing Activity
That’s where I am folks. I’ll check back in May.

You did VERY well, Lynn - progress in editing is HUGE. Excited about your WOW and Diaper thing. Keep plugging away.
thanks Jo :)
The key words in your testimony of "2 steps forward and 10 back" are STEPS and FORWARD. God doesn't keep track of our backward steps, so neither should we. Congrats on making progress toward your goals! Press on!
What Cat said--press on!!!!! And congrats on the victories of the past month.
