How does your website measure up?

I try to keep up with Roni Loren's blog, Fiction Groupie, because she's got a lot of smart tips out there. And today, while doing a quick scroll through my Google Reader- I saw this tip for having a great web site: "Make sure a drunken monkey could navigate it."

I howled like...a howler monkey. So then I hopped over to her blog to read the rest. She's got a lot of good tips and I am in violation of a few of the things that could make my website better, according to Roni, and I kind of think she's right.

So, if you're revamping your website or blog- you might want to keep these things in mind. I'm going to make you go to her blog to read it. Here's the link: Ten Components of a Rocking Author Website.

My project this week has been to revamp the blog I use as a website to make it more obvious that I have content for readers as well as writers. I've tried to make it easy to find stuff, but sometimes people can get lost because I've linked the blog I use like a website with my true blog and the links go back and forth. Well, you can't have everything, right? I know I have a long way to go to have a really super website (the whole "having someone design your website is expensive" thing), but I'm working on it. I like cheap (especially since it would be EASY to spend way more than my writing brings in), so I'm trying to do the best with what I have.

BTW, if you'd like to check it out and give me a rating on how I"m doing according to the blogging guidelines you linked to, my blog addy is http://suzanne-hartmann.blogspot.com.

Thanks for this post. It's great to be able to pick up good tidbits of advice like this.
