March Writing Prompt: Excuse Me?

This month, let's talk about how we cope with the excuses we make that keep us from our goals. If you haven't set any goals for the month, year, your life- then maybe this is an opportunity to do that.

And, if you're human, you probably have found yourself making excuses (legitimate or contrived) for the things that keep you from getting closer to your goal.

How is it you cope with the things that get in the way? Are your old strategies working? Are you itching to try something new?

This is the prompt: Name the excuses that keep you from reaching your goal(s), and name the strategies you'll use (tried and true, or new) to combat the things that interfere.

I'll be blogging about my writing goals and my excuses. And I'd love to talk with you about your goals and to know how it is you work through the excuses to reach your goals.

Many thanks to Chris Brogan and his list of 100 Blog Topics I Hope You Write, which included this month's prompt "for every excuse, a new strategy"

When I post my response- I'll sync it up with this post. I hope you'll do the same, and link back here so I can read yours, too.

Happy Blogging,

Well, I have given myself a gift - no excuses and no goals (sorry - that sounds apathetic) yet I am writing and posting and writing and got a short story published (without sending it off anywhere) in Dec in a holiday anthology which was a surprise and blessing. Maybe I can do this gift for myself because I am 65 in a few weeks (yikes, how did I get THAT old?) GRIN

Hey, did you catch my mistake?? My sign is a double negative. Sigh. Guess I'd better fix that :)

Mary Jo- I think you said in the other post on goals that you have made life goals-- those still count. And please don't feel like this was targeting you, my dear :) Not everybody has to have a to-do list full of goals.
