Up first—Edit next 1/3 of Back of My Hand
Can we skip this one? Oh yeah, that’s how I got into trouble in the first place. New words edited? 0. Number of chapters submitted to my critique group? 0. Oh, the agony!! This one needs serious help and needs serious focus. It’s partly the reason I’m dropping just about everything from my goal’s list but this. Hey, isn’t March Ed-Mo month? Why yes, it is! I'm not joining officially, but I'd highly encourage you to- if it'll help you meet your editing goals. Check it out-- NaNoEdMo.
Next—Submit 3 blog posts a week (aiming for M,W,F)
There were 13 posts in February (including my apology for the silence on my blog) and most of them were posted on M,W, or F. So, it’s not great, but it’s pretty darn close, so we’ll call that a success.
Then there was—Submit next article for Purpose (a 1x month thing)
Trumpet fanfare please? Ladies and Gentlemen…my submission was accepted! Woo-hoo! And better yet, I was asked to submit more. The editor said she can use the same author every three months, so every three months- I’ll be submitting a new piece. (And hopefully, she’ll keep loving them.) And the icing on this delicious cake? It’s paid. Yay!
Next—finalize a place to send Midwife to Christmas
Oops. Completely neglected, and dare I admit it (though it’s posted right on my blog & on my igoogle to-do list) completely forgot about it. Yikes. After March, it’s back on the list for sure.
And last but not least—enter FaithWriters Challenge 1-2 times
I have a few days left to make good on this goal. I plan to get my draft done tomorrow and have it submitted by Thursday morning. I really don’t want to let that one slip. We’ll count it as checked-off for now.
I’m glad to be reminded that even when I’m slacking off (not intentional, real life has demanded more this last month) I'm doing okay. I guess that means this goal-check thing is working on some level.
With that in mind… let’s look at March.
March’s goals:
1. Edit Back of My Hand as much as possible
2. 2 blog posts a week (lessening this to make room for BMH this month)
3. Maybe, if I’m doing well with the first goal- enter FaithWriters Challenge 1x
So how are you doing with your goals? If you want some accountability, share yours with me and we can encourage each other to meet our goals (and to grant each other some grace when we fall short, which inevitably happens).

You did pretty well with what you DID get done. LOVE when I think I bombed but didn't ;)
And yeah, I've got grace enough for both of us.
:) Praying for the month!
Well, Lynn, your name sake here (Marijo Lynn) is going to confess. I used to get really upset when people shared their 5 year plan and their 10 year plan complete with their goals. I had none. Mind you, I am not a procrastinator so deadlines are not a problem. Finally, in self defense I made a Life Goal - to stay close to Jesus - going to heaven taking as many people with me as possible.
Lately, the methods have included posting to several websites online (Faith Writers started it all in Aug 2008 - I now have over 745 posts there last time I looked at the numbers) BUT for me, not having any goals but the long term one has given me a goal and relieved me from the stress I'd place myself under with other goals.
GRIN. Might not work for everyone but it has been kind to me.
Mary Jo, you have to do what helps you fulfill your call- if making lists of goals takes you away or hinders you from doing what God has called you to do, then phooey on goals. For me, it's the only way I can manage to get things done-- it's visual- I can see very clearly what I've done. Without them, I can procrastinate and squander time with the best of 'em. I do this because it helps me. And... I put the invitation out there to remind others who like the reminder to see how they're doing.
And, the bonus? When I do well, usually someone says- hey, attagirl! And my love language is words of affirmation, so it's encouragement for me to keep up the good work.
