Not a top winner anyway

I just opened the e-mail from Writer's Digest that says all the "top winners" have been notified. So, I guess by the lack of notification I can presume I'm not at the *top* of the pile.

Am I surprised? Not really. 1st time entering. Still a relatively new writer (skill-wise). Mega-big pool of contestants. Genre a bit iffy. Story probably not really the sort they go for....so no, not really surprised. (And that's all if the story were magnificent.) That's okay. Cinderella stories are just that. They rarely happen, and that's why for must of us, they're just *fairy* tales and we have to just keep schlepping along and put in the work to make our writing happen.

Am I bummed? a little. I mean who doesn't want to be Cinderella (well, the end of the story, not the part where she's being abused)? Especially when it doesn't involve having to marry a prince. Landing an awesome publishing deal- well, now, we're talking. :)

All in all. I'm not even ready to face the publishing world yet. My book is still being revised, I'd be a miniature one-hit wonder and a disappointing one at that.

So what's this all mean? Not a whole lot. It means I didn't win any grand prizes and it means I better get off the internet and get to revising.

To any of the rest of you who entered that contest and haven't received your golden ticket to New York and a publishing deal- my commiserations and sympathy. Hey, we can help each other write better and get this done the old-fashioned way, right? Right. Now pass the chocolate, please.

Hey, don't go too far kids. We'll be right back tomorrow with an exciting new addition-- FAMILY SHENANIGANS! (woot-woot!)

Later alligators.

Had the same thing happen to me a year or two ago. I know the feeling - but good for you for picking up and getting back to work (and for having chocolate!).

Looking forward to shenanigans tomorrow ;) (Hopefully, only YOUR family's!)
